Seth J.
Baum, MD, FACC, FAHA
Dr. Baum has
been practicing Cardiology in Boca Raton, Florida since 1991. A
graduate of Columbia College and Columbia College of Physicians
and Surgeons, Dr. Baum completed residency training in Internal
Medicine and Fellowship training in Cardiology, Interventional
Cardiology and Electrophysiology. Dr Baum has served as Director
of the Electrophysiology and Cardiac Catheterization
laboratories at both Boca Raton Community Hospital and North
Ridge Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In addition to
his more "traditional" practice of clinical cardiology, Doctor
Baum has also worked extensively in the fields of Integrative
Medicine and Preventive Cardiology. He directed the John W.
Henry Center for Integrative Medicine and the Mind/Body Medical
Institute (an affiliate of Harvard's Beth Israel Deaconess
Hospital) at Boca Raton Community Hospital, taught a graduate
level course in Integrative Medicine at Florida Atlantic
University, and has lectured to both physicians and non-medical
groups across the country about the pros and cons of Integrative
Medicine. His 2004 publication in JANA addresses the risk of
excessive antioxidant ingestion, and the need for
individualizing the approach to nutritional supplementation.
Dr. Baum
also founded VitalRemedyMD, a nutritional supplement company
dedicated to the education of doctors and their patients, as
well as the formulation and production of medically directed
nutritional supplements(www.vitalremedymd.com).
In
order to bolster his practice of Preventive Cardiology,
Dr. Baum has developed an expertise in the
fields of Lipidology and CCTA. In November 2005 he became one
of a handful of U.S. cardiologists to earn Board Certification
in the field of Clinical Lipidology through the National Lipid
Association, NLA (www.lipid.org). He lectures nationally on the clinical utility of assessing
Lipoprotein particles through NMR testing
(www.liposcience.com). Additionally, in June of 2005, Dr. Baum
began co-directing an introductory course on CCTA.
Dr. Baum has
appeared as a guest on numerous radio and television programs,
including National Public Radio, The Voice of America, The CBN
700 Club, Fox network and MSNBC. He authored numerous articles
in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as two books,
The Total Guide to a Healthy Heart, and Age Strong, Live
Long: Lessons from my Patients.
