Joel S. Morris, MD
Dr. Morris has developed an expertise in
CCTA & has been involved in full time practice since 2007. A
graduate of McGill University medical school in Montreal, he
then went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at
McGill. During that time he obtained an MSc in Experimental
Surgery in surgical immunology at McGill. He then did a
fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery under heart transplant
pioneer Dr. Richard Lower at the Medical College of VA in
Richmond. He is boarded in both General Surgery & Thoracic
Surgery.
He became an attending surgeon at the
Geisinger Clinic while serving as an Assistant Professor at the
Jefferson Medical College. From there he was recruited to become
Director of Cardiac Surgery at Memorial Hospital in Colorado
Springs, CO. He later founded and ran the combined Cardiac
Services Section. There he started a cardiac transplant program
& was a local pioneer in mitral valve repair, off pump CABG,
thoracoscopy & Lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema. He
performed pediatric cardiac surgery in association with the
University of Colorado. He retired as a surgeon & moved to FL in
2000.
In 2007, Dr. Morris trained in CCTA & began
working full time in the field. He has been an instructor at
Level ll courses.
