Interventional Radiology is a rapidly growing area of medicine that allows the physician to diagnose and treat disease under imaging guidance. It is a highly specialized field providing minimally invasive treatment. Via a small puncture site, the radiologist can obtain diagnostic images   or treat disease by placing a balloon catheter, stent or filter in the vessel. It replaces open surgical procedures with less risk, cost and pain for the patient. Most procedures are performed on an outpatient basis with minimal recovery time. South Florida Medical Imaging is the newest outpatient imaging center in Florida equipped and staffed to provide Interventional Radiology.
