From the Medical Director:

The Level I course certification is geared for cardiologists and radiologists who have limited knowledge and experience in cardiac CTA. It consists        of 2.5 days of intense learning of this new and exciting technology.          The classes   are held in a relaxed environment with a one to one, common    sense approach, with the instructors.  Personally, I have interpreted          in excess of 7,000 cardiac CTA’s, and have gathered a wealth of   experience to share with you. Based on our extensive number of cases     and integrated approach of radiology and cardiology, our group was  selected by Philips to establish the first Cardiac CTA teaching course in    the USA. The level 1 course is eligible for up to 20 AMA Category 1 CME credits.

South Florida Medical Imaging is among the largest and most         prestigious groups in South Florida. Many of the members have            strong academic backgrounds. The 26 associates support five              major hospitals and three imaging centers, located across three       adjacent counties.

In order to provide you exceptional training, the course was designed for     a small group. The cardiac CTA course is truly focused on hands-on training. It is held in the award winning, state-the-art 10,000 sq. ft,          Outpatient Center, located in Boca Raton, Florida. Our experience stems  from 16 and 64-slice equipment by Philips, GE, and Siemens. The center contains a Philips 16 and 64 slice scanner, with the latest technology.

The workstations (WS) are state-of the-art Philips. However, rest      assured that the emphasis of the course is on cardiovascular medicine      and not on becoming a computer operator. Also, you do not have to be       a Philips customer to take full advantage of the course. The content       fully applies across the different vendors.

There is a common misconception that the greatest hurdle for the    physician is mastering the sophisticated WS technology. As you will       learn, the true challenge is the medical case itself and establishing           the correct diagnosis. There is no doubt that the WS is very complex, however, we expeditiously simplify the process, based on "what you       really need to know", in order to quickly jump into analyzing the many     great cases in our teaching file.

The first day primarily consists of learning the basics of Multislice CT, physics, cardiac CTA technique and workflow. Also, you’ll learn                WS proficiency, normal cardiac anatomy and how to process a normal     case. By the end of the day, you will have learned how to use a WS         and basic processing.

Day two and three, you will personally work-up as many cases as you       can handle and also learn how we do it. At least 50 cases will be reviewed. The cases become incrementally complex. Every case has been         carefully selected to emphasize a teaching point. You will review:

  • Normal coronaries

  • Congenital anomalies

  • Coronary artery disease: obstructive and non-obstructive

  • Coronary stent evaluation

  • CABG evaluation

  • Cardiac disease

  • Extra-cardiac disease

  • Surprise cases: these cases are complex, fun and will challenge even the most experienced

By the end of the course, you will have had a broad exposure and     thorough understanding of basic cardiac CTA. A certificate is provided at   the completion of the course. The content of the course does meet ACR   and ACCF/AHA Clinical Competence Statement Guidelines.

The Level II Mini-Fellowships are tailored to fit your individual needs. It consists of a one-to-one all day training in the reading room with the instructor(s). It is limited to one to four attendees. You will have hands-on access to a WS to analyze live cases to be read during the day, plus you can review the teaching file.

Certification is for interpretation and acquisition of 10 cardiac CTA cases per day.

Prior Level I training or equivalent is encouraged.

The Level II Power Course is an intense 5 day review/interpretation of 100 cardiac CTA cases, to include 50 non-contrast chest CT. You will also be able to be present for study acquisitions. The course is limited to 10 attendees.

This level 2 course is eligible for up to 40 AMA Category 1 CME credits.

LEVEL 3 TRAINING: 4 WEEK FELLOWSHIP CERTIFICATION

  • REVIEW OF 300 CASES

  • PRESENT FOR THE ACQUISITION OF 100 IV CONTRAST CASES

  • EVALUATION OF 100 NON-CONTRAST STUDIES

  • 40 HOURS OF CT RELATED LECTURES

Alternatively, with prior attendance of our Level 1 and level 2 Power Course, you can achieve Level 3 training with just a 2 week fellowship

For additional information, please check the course brochure and registration page.

Previous participants have included included a mix and range from       tenured university professors to doctors from smaller communities.           The course feedbacks have been outstanding and are very confident     that it will be one of the best courses you have attended. Plus, there        are many great local restaurants, Shoppe's and South Beach is just a     short drive south.

I look forward to personally meeting you and sincerely thank you for       your interest in our educational programs.
